The Great Female Emergence...Mine Eyes Have Been Opened

I mentioned the other day that there were not too many dissenting voices around the blogosphere concerning my Top 10 Emergent/Missional/Post-Evangelical Blog Posts of 2008.

Then I came across this comment over at Emerging Women:

Top 10 blog posts of 2008 and only 1 woman blogger. Really? You've got to be kidding me ...

I was convicted.

In my defense, though, I did mention in the post that the list was my list, completely subjective and having no solid criteria other than my own personal preferences.

But that's just a cop-out. The real question is why didn't I have more than one female blogger on the list.

I have no answer to that one. Like I said, I've been convicted. I haven't been listening to the voices of half my fellow Emergent/Missional/Post-Evangelicals out there in the blogosphere. And in all honesty, neither have most of us men.

So I decided to do something about it. I asked for help from the readers over at Emerging Women. I asked them to recommend some good blogs by some female Emergent-types. I was inundated, and shocked, and saddened by my self-imposed limited perspective thus far.

It would be unfair of me to put up a list, with any semblance of credibility, of the best female Emergent/Missional/Post-Evangelcial Christian bloggers out there. I'm just starting to tap into that slice of the blogosphere, and I would highly recommend that my brethren with blogrolls comprised almost entirely of male bloggers seriously consider committing to the same challenge. Actually, "challenge" is the wrong word. So far, it's been truly a pleasure.

But to help you get started, here are some good resources:

The blogroll over at Emerging Women is a great place to start.

Andrew Jones has a piece called Female Christian Bloggers over at Tall Skinny Kiwi. Some really good ones listed there, as well as a few gems offered up in the comments following the piece.

Kathy Escobar's blogroll. I read her blog religiously and, for some reasons, had never taken the time to scroll through the blogroll (except when she added my blog there...hey, I never said I wasn't a self-centered pig).

Sonja's list over at
Calacirian. A wonderfully rich and thorough springboard.

OK, that should be enough to get started.

And if anyone knows of any gems that are not on any of the above lists, or want to specifically highlight, please let me know.

Grace and Peace,
Raffi

Raffi ... your apology is gracious and kind. Thank you for helping to spread our blogs around.

My apologies for not getting here sooner ... I've been buried in Christmas preparations.

    Signed ...
